It's time to get to know Charlie Smith and the burning question on everyone's lips is, "What's with that biscuit?" Yes, I asked, and the man answered!
"HAHA omg. Its kinda cringe. But I made it for my first ever demo I made. I had no idea what to call it, so I joked I should call it that and my ex-girlfriend took a picture of it for me. I released it under Graham Cracker. Funny times."
So there you have it! Nope, he isn't affiliated with McVities. Shame! I was hoping for a shipment of Chocolate Digestives in exchange for this post. Ah, If only we could have it all. (See what I did there?)
His new track "Have it all" is on the NAS playlists which you can find clicking the link below.
𝟭. Where are you from and what are your hobbies?
I'm from Hampshire, UK! Music, music and more music haha. Outside of music though I like cricket, snooker and drinking beer.
𝟮. How did your get into music?
I can't really remember how but I got a guitar for Christmas or birthday. I wanted to look cool so I started playing it. I started off badly at first (Of course) but then I got more and more into. I found out some people who I went to school with actually played music and yeah that's when it really took off I guess. I think I was kinda late getting into music as I was already 13/14.
𝟯. Who are your biggest influences?
Just so many too name! It has change so much from Bob Dylan to the Smashing Pumpkins. But honest the biggest influences to me these days are just indie musicians. Plenty from NAS do great things . It influences me in a way because I know what they are doing is achievable.
4. What are your goals in the music industry?
Honestly I can't say I'm a big fan on the industry side of things. To me it seems like one big gate-keeping exercise. You have to know the right people etc etc. I guess my goals would be to give more power and help to indie artists. And if I have enough (money) to survive then that would be awesome. I guess I would like to shake things up and spread more awareness to music listeners.
5. If you could choose a location to perform at, what would it be?
Maybe somewhere local so its not too far, but I mean there are so many fabulous and quirky places to play. I'm luckily enough to have played in some cool venues that are now shut! Because I guess that's life, there are some cool new venues that I would like to explore.
6. What is your all-time favorite song?
This is always hard. I've got go with John Lennon - 'Working class hero'
7.
Most embarrassing moment?
Wow! This could be it's whole interview on its own. I've blocked alot of it it out of my mind (Or tried too) haha. A classic one is recording with out record being armed so recording nothing and thinking it was a good. Another classic is playing around with something on the mix etc a compress for like 15 minutes and realising it never even enabled. I'm going to leave it that I don't wanna cringe you all out haha!
8. Proudest accomplishment?
It's a toss up really. I think probably just the fact that I've kept going after heavy criticism and I haven't given up. Aside from that probably the article that I write on my blog. I'm not the best at writing but actually write articles about music stuff is proud feeling. Of course I've still got to write a lot more article and record a lot more music. So yeah glad I didn't give up yet!
9. What is something about you that might surprise someone who knows you the best?
I don't know how to the answer this question in any other way. But I am actually quite good at YO-YOing and that's not even a joke XD Like I've shown a few people know but they seem to taken back to say the least haha!
𝟭𝟬. What is your dream collaboration?
Probably someone who can sing over some guitar I could play. I'm thinking maybe a female singer because that would really be something really I have never experienced before. If it's a choice out of anyone in world though I'm going to say S-club 7 or something like that. It would be carnage! Hopefully we could kick out another member of the group and I can take there place. Not sure who though .....
