𝟭. Where are you from and what is your hobby?
Cayla: I’m from Scottburgh, KZN, South Africa. My hobby is anything I feel like doing in the moment. Being a being (haha) of sentience is all about playing. Some days I’ll frolick in the ocean, other days I’ll learn phrases in a foreign language, many days I’ll just BE in my own presence in my own essence with a pen and my journal and just write whatever I’m guided to, whether it’s an epiphany on the quantum and metaphysical workings of the universe or a little poetic philosophy that has just come into my awareness.
Chad: I’m from Scottburgh, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. I enjoy dabbling in anything creative such as reading, writing and of course creating music. Pretty much anything that brings me joy.
𝟮. How did your get into music?
Cayla: Music has always resonated with my being. It’s always been a great portal through which I create and express the frequencies that align most with me in the present moment.
Chad: I can’t pinpoint an exact moment. It was more of a calling to express myself, and music seemed to be the best outlet that was authentic to how I wanted to express my thoughts and perceptions.
𝟯. Who are your biggest influences?
Cayla: I love many artists, such as Bahramji, Indianizer and Benjy Wertheimer, but my writing and composing is actually influenced by nobody.
When a melody or worded transmission comes through, I record it, and it’s usually when I least expect it. These musical messages are usually aligned with ideas and realizations that would seem outrageous to society and the perceived “norm”.
Chad: not who but what. Life, specifically life through my own lense, influences me every single day
4. What are your goals in the music industry?
Cayla: to maintain my true essence and expression of my unique individual perspective, and to share the art I create in different and exciting ways with people that resonate, to help expand consciousness and spread high vibrations.
Chad: to enjoy the process as thoroughly as I can. Beyond that, I like surprises.
5. If you could choose a location to perform at, what would it be?
Cayla: any cool spot amongst the jungle and beaches of Bali, Thailand or Tulum.
Chad: I’ve been specifically attracted to the Italian Riviera lately, so if you know anyone with a super yacht, a gig aboard sounds delightful.
6. What is your all-time favorite song?
Cayla: its so difficult to pick only one, but I’ll say Smooth by Carlos Santana. Since i was a few years old, it set my soul on fire. The whole composition and vibe is just incredible. I think its one of the songs that inspired me to want to play guitar the most. Chad: that’s a tough one, because music is so subjective, as are our moods. So perhaps, some Frank Sinatra on a rainy day?
7. Most embarrassing moment?
Cayla: hmmm.. seems my brain must’ve wiped these moments as a trauma response haha.
Chad: I prefer to call it growth through humility and a practice of shedding the ego. But truly, I don’t take myself too seriously, so can’t recall anything too embarrassing.
8. Proudest accomplishment?
Cayla: just living my dreams feels to me like my biggest accomplishment. Creating and releasing musical art, touring the country (hey world, you’re next), living each day as a true artist and philosopher even when no one is looking.
Chad: creating a beautiful life where I live on my own terms.
9. What is something about you that might surprise someone who knows you the best?
Cayla: I’m a total UFOlogist. Seen more than I can keep track of zooming around up in them skies.
Chad: too much of a straight shooter for that, my friend. Perhaps my straight-shooter-ness is surprising to some.
𝟭𝟬. What is your dream collaboration?
Cayla: collaboration hasn’t enticed me much thus far, but if I were on that wavelength, I’d say maybe Bahramji because his music exudes consciousness and divine expression.
Chad: David Hasselhoff for the shear encounter alone.
