This time, we get to know Tim Consley. He has been making music for over 50 years. He plays many instruments, although the guitar is his main one. He writes, sings all the vocals, plays all the instruments, records, mixes, and masters all of his songs.

1. Tell us a little about where you are from and what you are currently doing.
I am originally from Milton, KY, but have resided in Versailles, IN for the last 25 years. This still makes me within 40 minutes from where I grew up.
2. What inspired you to start playing and making music?
I was born into it. I come from a long line is musicians from my maternal grandfather to my mom and her siblings to me and my siblings. My 3 brothers are much older than me and already had their first band by the time I came along. I remember being very, very little and my brothers would put a bass or a guitar in my lap and help me play it or sit me on the drums and put the sticks in my hands.
π―. Who are your biggest influences?
Stevie Ray Vaughan, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Joe Bonamassa, and Samantha Fish are my top 3. These are some of the best artists in the blues rock genre.
4. What are your goals in the music industry?
Goals are hard to say. I guess to be fairly well-known is my answer. What does that look like? I cannot say. At 59, I’m just trying to live my best musical life.
5. Tell us about your creative process when you make new music.
I do everything on my recordings. I sing the vocals, play all of the instruments, and produce and master the recording.
I start by playing around on my guitar. When I hit upon something I really like, I begin planning out the recording, then:
1. Record drums
2. Record rhythm guitar
3. Record bass guitar
4. Record keys (if any)
5. Record the lead guitar and do a rough mix.
6. Sit back, listen to the music, and ask myself “What is this saying to me?”.
7. Write lyrics and record vocals.
Final mix and master.
This procedure takes between 2-3 days.
6. What is your all-time favorite song?
Texas Flood by Stevie Ray Vaughan. This was what got me turned on to blues music.
7. What is the best advice you have either given or received in terms of music?
Stay humble. That’s the one thing I continuously strive for. I see a lot of musicians that have major attitudes and inflated egos. Music is not a competition but should be for enjoyment.
8. Proudest accomplishment?
I would have to say producing my first album, “Gonna Find Me a Pillow”. I was recovering from a liver transplant and I basically had to work on reteaching myself guitar after playing for almost 50 years. My brain knew how, but because of several side effects, the translation from my brain to my hands did not relay well. The album was my return back to music.
9. Just for fun! What’s been your most embarrassing moment so far?
Falling off a stool while playing guitar for the church. This was when I was very sick with my liver. This was, also, the moment when I realized I was to the point when I could no longer play my music anymore.
π0. Tell us about your lowest and highest points in music so far.
Getting sick with my liver and having to have a transplant. The sicker I got, the more I was losing my
musical abilities to play and sing until I completely do neither.
My highest point was when I played my 1st large concert at 10 years old, we were one of the bands that opened up for the Oak Ridge Boys when they were in gospel music.
