This song is my personal favorite from this band. They definitely have an eclectic mix, but they remain within the vein of alternative rock to me. I’m not a big cover performer and have a small list of songs I’d say I’d enjoy doing a cover of, but this is one on that short list. When I first heard it while driving, I was singing along to it, too, and those two facts are some of the biggest compliments I can personally give a song.

The lyrics have a solemn tone to me, with a certain strength to their disparity. Sometimes in life, a change of pace and company has to take place for survival. I get that vibe from this song, and it reminds me of all the times I’ve had to move for a better life. I’m absolutely grateful I made those decisions, as they always led me to a greater understanding of life. I remember those moments of new optimism in the face of disparity, and it makes me smile. Thanks for making this song, guys. You rock!

The beginning is solemn, with just the guitar and vocals giving it a very personal touch. Then, as the song and story build, you find yourself on a journey as the song describes what pushes us toward change. I feel compelled to relate to the feeling that sometimes we just need a break, however we can find it. Driving is a great medium for that experience, as we have all probably been in the position of driving away from complicated situations in order to gain clarity. This song encompasses that feeling and experience perfectly.

It’s not filled with overly complicated sections, but strong, solid chords and relatable lyrics give it a relaxed yet strong vibe for me. Two Odd Dogs and Ed Eagle make this song my favorite of their catalog because of its relatable context, the organic nature of the composition, and the perfectly balanced vocals and instrumentation.

It’s a timeless tune that people will probably be able to enjoy no matter what’s popular at the time. Great songs have that potential, and I’m glad to know this tune because of NAS.
