The NAS 10 Questions

In this week’s 10 Questions we get to know Ochehimself, an Afrobeats artist from Nigeria

His song ‘What they want’ is currently featured on the NAS Spotify playlists.

You can follow Ochehimself on Instagram.

1. Tell us a little about where you are from.

I’m from Nigeria and I’m simply working on my music and focusing on my personal life, my family and my love life as well.

2. What inspired Ochehimself to start playing and making music?

Well I’m a music lover, I was taught it, loved watching music videos to concerts to reality tv shows to crib shows and all that. Loved dancing as well and loved to watch other artist do their thing. Seeing them do that and become successful is reason enough to be motivated to doing mine and I strongly believe the world will turn to me and accept me as well.

3. Who are Ochehimself’s biggest musical influences?

Wizkid, burna boy, gunna, jay z, Kanye west, olamide. My genre of music is quite simple… I’m mainly focused on Afrobeats, Hiphop and RnB

4. What are your goals in the music industry or as an artist?

To entertain the world by touring, maybe win a few awards and be recognized. Having a successful career is one and seeing myself successful also.

5. Tell us about your creative process.

For me making music is simple, I start with melodies, then rhythm, then the lyrics come last. It’s about telling a few stories in my life or the life experiences of others. Some I might have been a part of and some I had the opportunity to witness.

6. What is your all-time favorite song by another artist and why?

Piece of me by wizkid ft Ella mai…. The song is a soothing vibe and it’s one I can always go back to no matter the mood I find myself in.

7. What is the best advice you have either given or received in terms of music?

Keeping a steady head and always remembering that my musical success starts from me so I always have to believe in myself and in my ideas, vision and have a good strategy.

Keeping a steady head and always remembering that my musical success starts from me

8. What is your proudest accomplishment?

Being able to start my musical career. Finally fitting into the space that I deserve and seeing myself do that is one also. Knowing that the world is also interested in listening to what you have to say or sing and witnessing the appreciation of my genres

9. What’s been your most embarrassing moment so far?

Not having all the required assets or equipment to build a professional career. The fact that having a little means I have to be patient and move slowly.

10. Tell us about your lowest and highest points in music so far.

I’m guessing that should be fixed on my mood for now. I don’t really think i have had any so I’m hoping for the best. Positivity is all I can think of and I hold on to that dearly.

I enjoyed learning more about Ochehimself and his goals. He has a great attitude and incorporates his personal experiences into his music. These are both excellent qualities for an indie artist to have. A great benefit of NAS is the opportunity to learn about artists around the world. We have many different experiences but have a shared love of music 😎
